Cardiff and south-east Wales

Trans Dating Cardiff: Trans Singles and Admirers in South Wales

From the bay to the valleys, members a short trip apart.

Trans dating in Cardiff covers a lot of ground. More than 170 My Transgender Secret members live in the capital and across south-east Wales, in Newport, Pontypridd, Caerphilly and the valley towns beyond. Most are men, and trans and crossdressing members are here too.

Mostly in the prime of life

Cardiff has the biggest share of 35 to 44 year olds of any city we cover: nearly two in five members fall in that bracket. Add the nearly one in four who are 25 to 34, and more than three in five of the area's members are between 25 and 44. Nearly a quarter are 55 or over.

Charles Street and a proud capital

Cardiff's LGBTQ+ nightlife gathers around Charles Street and Churchill Way, and Mary's, a gay cabaret bar on St Mary Street, makes another easy first stop. Meet early, find a table, and see where the evening goes.

Pride Cymru takes over the city every June, with Cardiff Castle as its backdrop. Trans Pride Cardiff, first held in 2019, usually follows in August. Both are a lovely day out with someone you have already got to know. If you would rather not begin in a bar, the museum below makes a calmer opening.

From the valleys to the coast

About half of the members here live outside Cardiff itself. If you are in Caerphilly or further up the valleys, you might like to meet someone a little away from home. Newport members have Cardiff on one side and Bristol across the water on the other.

Discretion matters in smaller towns, where it can feel as though everybody knows everybody. Your profile names only your nearest town, never your street, and your real name is never shown, so you can chat in confidence before deciding whether to meet.

Your daily matches weigh distance from your nearest town, and VIP search filters let you set a city and exactly how far to look, so you can widen it once you know how far you are happy to travel.

A first date with something to talk about

National Museum Cardiff

In Cathays Park, National Museum Cardiff costs nothing to enter, is roomy and right in the civic centre. It gives you a ready topic for the first ten minutes, which is often all you need before the conversation finds its own feet.

Penarth for a second meeting

If the first date goes well, Penarth is a short hop away for a walk by the sea. Find more in our guide to trans first dates.

Support across Wales

The Welsh Gender Service has been based at St David's Hospital in Cardiff since 2019. Trans Aid Cymru, a volunteer-led mutual aid group, holds events in Cardiff and Newport.

On My Transgender Secret your name never appears, your profile lists only your nearest town, and you can block anyone straight away. There is a free ID check that puts a blue tick on a profile, and a moderator's video check for peace of mind without documents. See how we keep you safe. Should a date ever go wrong, Galop's national helpline supports LGBT+ people facing abuse.
