Grindr calls itself "the world's largest network for gay, bi, trans, and queer adults", and it has had gender identity and pronoun fields since 2017. Coverage of its own data says it is used mostly by gay and bi men. What Grindr does well

Grindr is big and fast. It shows you the people around you by location, and its own listing pitches it for friendships, dates and whatever else you are looking for. In November 2017, working with the National Center for Transgender Equality, it added gender identity options including trans woman, trans man, non-binary and crossdresser, and pronoun choices. Its privacy tools are good, too. Everyone gets the discreet app icon, profile hide arrived in 2025, and Unlimited members get incognito mode.

For trans men, and for trans women who want to meet men from the gay and bi scene, Grindr can work well.

Who you actually meet there

Grindr was a men-only app until its 2017 update, and coverage of its own data still describes it as "used mostly by gay and bi men", though "trans" was its second most searched tag in 2024. So there is plenty of interest in trans people on Grindr, but a trans woman there is one group in a very large crowd that is mostly gay and bi men.

If you are a man attracted to trans women but not to men, a lot of what you scroll past will not be for you.

What My Transgender Secret offers instead
